On A Mission
There are many things in our lives that drive us. Not talking about transportation but people, visions, causes, our passion for what we believe in.
Well, that brings me to 3 years ago when I met Steve Lindsley and his passion to help Veterans live a better life. I have always been passionate about helping the less fortunate, poverty stricken and homeless. I know what your thinking already, some people choose to live that way or don’t want to work….believe me I get it, not talking about those people. Talking about the ones who get up and work and fight hard every day to make ends meet and life throws them curve balls!!
Pathways lead to crossroads
I was once one of those people, some by bad choices in life and some by bad choices from others. I was homeless many years ago and I have never forgotten that feeling. I know that is why I’m passionate about this! It is what drives me!
You know how when you are looking at things from the outside you always have a different perspective once you get inside and know the real story. Which brings me to our Veterans. I always assumed the government was taking care of them because they fought and some died for our country! Well, I soon learned that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The system is broken and we can’t fix it but we can help those who are stuck and need a hand up, not a hand out.
Actions speak louder
With all of that being said over 3 years ago ORVA (Ouachita Regional Veterans Assoc.) became my passion. It has been a very long road! Lot’s of disappointments, shut doors and turndowns, but I’m here to tell you we are here for the long hall!! We have 7.5 beautiful acres that soon will be developed into tiny home Veteran’s Community.
I went out today and did a live post for FB, so check it out! I can stand there and see our vision and passion coming true and it is the most exciting feeling to know, that one day soon, a veteran will be given a chance to get services, support, fellowship and the honor and respect he/she deserves!!
I hope you will partner with us and make it your passion to! Stay tuned for updates!
